George Wong was born and raised in Hong Kong. He immigrated to the United States in
1974 and worked full time at Burger King and Trader Vic restaurant to pay for college.
He has a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from
University of Texas at Arlington.
George Wong founded Applied Data Resources, Inc. (ADR) in 1985.
ADR sells IT products and computer supplies including data storage tapes, toner, printers, laptops and
accessories.
ADR was recognized with three prestigious awards in 1999: Small Business of the
Year (Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce); Minority Business of the
Year (Dallas-Fort Worth Minority Business Development Council);
and Innovation Technology Award (Mcompany Awards). In 2001 ADR
was recognized as the #1 Independent Lexmark Dealer
in the Western Region and the #1 Lexmark Dealer in North America
in 2002.
ADR also was recognized by Fuji Corporation as the top producer in North
America in the magnetic tape division for two years in a row in
2002 and 2003. George Wong and ADR received the Twenty-one for
The Twenty-first Century Award in 2004 presented by
Inside Collin County Business Journal. Wong also was
awarded the 2003 Small Business Person of the Year Award by the
Plano Chamber of Commerce in 2004. ADR services its customers nationwide and has
office/representation in Austin, San Antonio, Richardson and Houston.
ADR is in the process of setting up an office in China and forming a strategic alliance with a company in Britain.
